Because 86 and later Corvettes have specially coded ignition keys, it makes good sense to have a couple of spares. To order a key, have your logo GM dealer measure the resistance on your key (it will be a 2 through 15 value code) and add that code to our part number. We'll ship you the correct key, which can then be cut by a local locksmith. It's as easy as that.VATS stands for Vehicle Anti-Theft System and is also known as PASS Key or Personal Automotive Security System. Each VATS key has a resistor embedded in the key blade and has 1 of 15 possible resistance values. The resistance value of a VATS key is also called a VATS code.
