All 1973-1973 Corvette have functional cowl induction hoods. Here's how it works: Outside air is forced in at the base of the windshield and routed through the raised area down the middle of the hood and into the carburetor. An electric solenoid, under the hood vent, opens a valve when the throttle is advanced. This allows more cold air to enter the carburetor and ultimately, more power. However, if your air cleaner to hood seal doesn't seal properly, you won't be making the power you should be making. Over time your factory air cleaner to hood seal can harden, crack, and become brittle causing an improper seal.
It's manufactured from soft and supple rubber that will give you the proper hood seal. And, it's the correct length and size so you'll no longer need to cut a Camaro or Chevelle cowl seal to fit your C3 Corvette...a huge time saver.
