Corvettes of Durham

Durham region has a long and deep attachment to the automobile dating back to the McLaughlin Motor Car Company that eventually morphed into General Motors of Canada. For almost 120 years, the connection to GM cars for inhabitants of Oshawa and surrounding areas was relied on revving engines as the vehicles to earn for themselves and their families. Devoted to honouring the legend of GM brand Chevrolet’s most iconic vehicle since 2000, Corvettes of Durham is a group devoted to having fun while fulfilling their community.

Operating under president Anne Halverson, Corvettes of Durham have been able to relaunch many of their club activities so far in 2022 including Dreamvettes and a Canada Day parade held in Port Perry. Among with supporting local businesses, the organization has funded charities. To date, the club has donated $48,175 to the Oshawa Hospital Durham Regional Cancer Care Centre and sponsored events for organizations such as the Oshawa Humane Society. The Covid Corvette Cruise was also held at three Durham region hospitals dropping off snacks to healthcare heroes during hectic times of the pandemic. The club is also known to assemble various generations of Chevrolet Corvettes for drive-bys at birthday parties.

Last but not least, Corvettes of Durham has the newsletter and website manager John Fletcher providing information with a healthy dash of humour.
