When your Corvette is ready for new tires, if you've been happy with the performance of the factory supplied tires on your 1997-2004 Corvette then the selection of tires for you is simple, buy 4 more of the same. However, if you would like a quieter ride and better traction, our recommendation for replacement high performance tires is the Michelin® Pilot® Sport PS2.
The Michelin® Pilot® Sport PS2 is Y-rated for speeds up to 186 MPH. It has a UTQG tread wear rating of 220 compared to the factory tire rating of 300. This rating, generally speaking, means that the Michelin® Pilot® Sport PS2 has a softer rubber tread compound that is "stickier" to provide greater traction. A "stickier" tire not only improves cornering, but braking performance as well!
A quieter ride than with the factory tires is possible because the Michelin® Pilot® Sport PS2 has an acoustically tuned, asymmetric tread pattern. The Michelin® Pilot® Sport PS2 gives superior handling in wet or dry conditions with highly specialized dual side-by-side tread compounds. The outer tread is engineered for maximum grip while the inner provides maximum handling in wet conditions. With a new set of Michelin® Pilot® Sport PS2 tires you can expect crisp steering response and amazing cornering ability in wet or dry conditions. Though the Michelin® Pilot® Sport PS2 tires are excellent in wet or dry conditions, they are not intended to be driven on snow or ice.
